Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) Consultancy
Overview

Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) and Dynamic Structure-Soil Structure Interaction (SSSI) is most commonly associated with the analysis of the combined structure and foundation system of buildings subjected to seismic or earthquake loading. Engineers at CREA Consultants have been involved in SSI and SSSI analysis since 1982. This involvement includes using SSI analysis techniques to demonstrate seismic resistance of safety related structures; and programming updates and interfaces to some of the well established SSI analysis systems. The programming involves programs such as FLUSH, SHAKE and CLASSI and interfaces primarily from these to ANSYS.

CREA's engineers have provided SSI services to civil nuclear clients in the UK and abroad (including Germany, Finland and Sweden); defence clients in the UK and petrochemical industries worldwide.

Soil and Structure Dynamics Limited (S&SD) is a company used by CREA and Robert Young Associates to develop and market an SSI analysis system called WinSSI.
